Chickerell village has a general store, Post Office, Chemist, doctor's surgery library pub and three churches all within a few minutes walk of "Stonebank". There are many places to eat in the area, along the beautiful coast or in the attractive villages in the Dorset countryside.

Weymouth, with it's safe sandy beach, bustling harbour and shopping area, is only three miles to the east and can be reached by regular buses from Chickerell, if you want to leave your car. The historic county town of Dorchester is 8 miles north and the attractive village of Abbotsbury with its famous Swannery and Sub-tropical gardens, 6 miles to the west. There is so much to do in the area from visiting Stately homes, museums and gardens to activities such as, golf, horse riding, bird watching, indoor/outdoor bowls, tennis, tenpin bowling and all manner of sea and beach activities.
